A lot of submissions to this group have been declined. Recently I was asked why their clay creation wasn't accepted and it occurred to me(Helga) that the group didn't know why their clay was rejected. So here are the most common reasons why a clay piece would be rejected:

       Presentation:  This is very important. If you cant see the clay very well, or the picture is busy, or too dark or light, it will have a huge impact on what people think of your clay. Your clay may be amazing, the next big thing, but if it doesn't look professional it is disregarded and reflects badly on your work. Because of this, we are looking for pieces with great presentation.  For example, check out this piece. The clay isn't that impressive but the presentation instantly makes you look twice and have a higher regard for the artist.  We want everyone to reach that level of quality and are looking for everyday examples for good presenting.

       The Clay: It doesn't have to be complicated to great. Try making the same thing 5 times and see if they are all the same. I guarantee that the last will be your best if you try because you learned so much from the others. A lack of fingerprints, a unique well executed idea,  good coloring, consistent quality through the Deviant's gallery,  a clean look to the clay, well distinguished layers, all these are important. One great example is this clay piece. It looks good because it was made well. Even if it is very simplistic, the level of quality the person put into it makes it a good clay piece. It has distinguished layering, minimal finger prints, a unique idea, and good color balance.

~~~~The main purpose of this group is to have good examples for people to get references from. If you want a critique submit your deviations to the critiques folder in the gallery. ALL clay in the folder will be critiqued and ALL clay submissions will be accepted.~~~~
I hope this helps :D If you have any questions, want some help, etc., please feel free to ask any of the contributors or me as we are more than happy to help.
My best wishes,
